SKD, in collaboration with Ankara University, is conducting the Water Risks R&D Project under the main sponsorship of Ülker. This project aims to determine water risks in wheat production in the Kızılırmak River Basin and increase productivity with modern irrigation methods.
In the project, wheat yield increased by 30 percent and water use decreased by 21 percent. 30 percent less water was used in sprinkler irrigation and 60 percent less in drip irrigation. The Phase II report of the ‘Water Risks R&D Project’ conducted in collaboration with SKD and Ankara University has been published. According to the World Water Stress Map, agriculture is the sector with the highest water use in Turkey, which is among the countries experiencing water scarcity in 2040. Positive results were obtained in terms of productivity in wheat production under the main sponsorship of SKD and Ankara University Ülker; The Project, which was carried out with the support sponsorship of Brisa, IC İçtaş İnşaat, PepsiCo, Sütaş, Toros Tarım, Wilo, Şekerbank and Türk Traktör, is of great importance in improving water efficiency in the agricultural sector and disseminating modern irrigation methods.
